Along with Elvis Costello and Graham Parker, Joe Jackson was one of the three big “Angry Young Men” of the late ‘70s punk/new wave movement. His early records with his band (named after him), reflect said genre and his lyrics got him tagged as “angry”. After the disbandment of his band after Beat Crazy in 1980 (bassist Graham Maby stuck with him), he recorded albums that reflected different genres and were more less rocking such as Night and Day, Body and Soul, and most notably, Jumpin’ Jive, a covers collection of classic swing tunes. Over the years, Jackson has continued to push his sound in different directions and still records new music to this day.
