Ranjay Gurung, better known by his stage name Jay Author is a Nepali R&B singer/songwriter from Hampshire, United Kingdom.

His musical career started in 2016 with the release of his first single “For You”. In 2017, he released his first debut studio album Summers Interlude. His single “Time Chaina”, released on May 21, 2018, got over a million views on YouTube in less than a month.

On Mar 28, 2016, he founded Metanoia Records. Under the recording label of Metanoia Records, Jay produced “Raat Ma” for James Shreshta.

In an interview with Party Nepal, he described his inspiration as:

I get inspired by a lot of artists when it comes to making music but following the steps wise; it has always been Drake. More than a rapper, I have seen what he has been able to accomplish and how he does everything in a smart manner which I want to follow. Going from being an actor then to becoming a rapper, then becoming one of the living legends of this generation, owning his own label, working on films, good within the industry and representing his city is what I would like to achieve someday.
