Jauns Mēness is a Latvian folk rock band formed in Rīga, Latvia in 1987 by Ainars Mielavs and Gints Sola.
Both of them are also the only remaining band members from the original lineup. During the last years Jauns Mēness was almost grown into a real orchestra – there were seven musicians with occasional appearances by guest artists.
Artemy Troitsky, a prominent Russian journalist and music critic has once called the music style as impressive if not the only example of baltic rock – alluding to similarities with the world famous celtic rock.
