I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, sometimes shortened to iDKHOW, is an indie-rock act fronted by lead vocalist/bassist Dallon Weekes, formerly of The Brobecks and Panic! At The Disco. The band’s name comes from a line that appears in the 1985 sci-fi film Back To The Future, spoken by the character Doctor Emmett Brown.
The project was inspired by a series of talent shows that Weekes discovered from the 1980s and 90s. He has described the project as:
“a musical entity outside of its own time, one that, faded away into obscurity in the early 80s, and today, through the internet, sees its performances and recordings being rediscovered by a world that finally just might be ready for IDK”
Originally a duo, drummer Ryan Seaman, formerly of Falling In Reverse, left the group in September 2023.
After teasing the project through cryptic posts on the band’s Instagram account, the duo played some secret shows around the LA area before debuting their first single “Modern Day Cain” in August 2017. A studio version of their song “Choke”, previously debuted at the band’s live shows, was released in October of the same year.
