Glints, born Jan Maarschalk Lemmens, is a Belgian rapper and singer. He’s a member of the ‘Abattoir Anvers’ collective, that operates out of a defunct halal slaughterhouse in Antwerp. Everything from production, to artwork, to shooting videos happens in-house, by members of the collective.
Glints has a distinct UK accent, as the language was always around growing up, thanks to his British aunt and nephews. He took many trips across the pond to London, visiting his surrogate family, which resulted in his signature British twang.
From furious fast-paced raps to catchy choruses, Glints raps and sings about everyday life in an often comical way. He is not your everyday rapper.
There’s no Glints however, without his beat-brother-in-arms Yong Yello, also a member of the Abattoir Anvers collective. Together they paved the way for his characteristic fusion of grime, trap, R&B and electronica. First product of their alliance was the ‘Choirboy’ album with the successful singles ‘Bugatti’, ‘Gold Veins’ and ‘Lemonade Money’.
Only 3 months after releasing his debut album, Glints is back with a new release: the ‘28 Days Mixtape’.
