Dayglo Abortions

About Dayglo Abortions

Founded in 1979 in Victoria, British Columbia, the Dayglo Abortions originally started as one of the earliest hardcore punk bands in the world, with aggressive, shocking and high tempo music.

Following the success of their seminal 1986 album Feed Us A Fetus, the band became a crossover thrash act with the release of their 1988 album, Here Today, Guano Tomorrow.

After an unsuccessful obscenity lawsuit levied against the band and the release of 1990’s Two Dogs Fucking, front man Murray “The Cretin” Acton quit, and was replaced by Gymbo; future albums would pivot between regular hardcore punk and crossover thrash.

Acton would return with 1999’s Death Race 2000, sharing vocal duties with Gymbo until Gymbo’s own departure in 2008. As of 2010, Acton is the only original member remaining.

The band’s most recent albums include 2021’s Hate Speech and the 2023 EP Upside Down World.
