David Dimaguila is a Filipino-British singer/songwriter/rapper & producer. Born in the UK to Filipino immigrant parents, David grew up in the multiculturally diverse Notting Hill area of West London. A product of this eclectic & impoverished, urban environment; he began writing songs as an outlet for the hardships he experienced in his early life. After the tragic death of his childhood sweetheart in 2008; David grew disheartened by his milieu. With gang activity & “postcode wars” in his area on the rise; he left London & moved to the Philippines to start anew.
In 2014, David became a finalist in the Philippines’ premier songwriting competition: ABS-CBN’s “Himig Handog”. He won “2nd Best Song” & the “Star Cinema Choice Award" with his composition “Halik sa Hangin”. In 2015, “Halik sa Hangin” became the title & theme song for a romantic horror movie, starring Julia Montes & Gerald Anderson. In 2016, David once again made the finals for that year’s edition of Himig Handog, going on to win “3rd Best Song” with his composition “Laban Pa”.
David has written, arranged, engineered & produced for various Filipino talents including: Inigo Pascual, Erik Santos, Gloc-9, KZ Tandingan, Jay-R, Jolina Magdangal, Ebe Dancel, Abra, Jed Madela, & Enchong Dee. But with a deep-seated desire to “make music with a message, not just for the masses”, David founded the underground Christian record label: Giant Killer Music, & released his first full length album “Tongue of Fire”, on Jan. 29, 2019.
