The Boston-based band formed in 2018 with one major motive: reshape familiar pop tropes in unexpected ways with the help of extensive funk, R&B, and rock influences. Such influences include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Lawrence, Lake Street Dive, and Cory Wong. Members of Couch also pull upon their personal training in
jazz, a cappella, and musical theater.
