This song it the second track, and first with vocals, on Factors concept album Woke Up Alone, recorded for Fake Four Records.
It deals with the death of the protagonist’s (played by Kirby Dominant) wife, and his desire to bring her back to life, which is the plot of the rest of the album.
[Verse 1: Kirby Dominant]
The empire has fallen it's the darkest day, I'm solemn
The blackest suits upon them as the casket goes the flowers
As the stain glass window showers light into the tower
I'm feeling like a coward, I've been crying for an hour
Too I afraid to face the crowd because their sympathy has power
Condolences devoured the denial of what is now or
Forever, I've been severed from my better half -Look at her
I this golden box I wish I could turn back clocks
Or stop them all together from the time that I first met her
We got on a plane together one good morning in September
Struck up a conversation, we where both going to Denver
I forgot why she was going, not important to remember
But by the time we got off Denver Had our clothes off
A connection of affection headed in the same direction
We don't leave each others side two years later your my bride
My eyes are filled with pride as I say my vows I cried
How could I find someone so funny and so wise
Hella sexy, open minded and with patience so divine
But now you lye in this stupid box, my queen has died
Only one year has gone by since "I do" came out my mind
That's not enough time, oh my god what the fuck why
Did you take my girl my diamond pearl I must of tried to do right
So how could she so suddenly be gone and I'm alive
[Hook]
I believe in you
I believe in you
[Verse 2: Kirby Dominant]
Voices in my mind telling me I have to try to bring her back
Perhaps I'm going mad but Ill take that over the sad feelings
It's an emotional overload
My desperation jumps overboard
So now I'm on the floor as the voices soar in volume
Telling me to keep my girl alive, fuck embalming fluid
When she says (I believe in you) I know that I can do anything
The first thing is to take her body from the cold grave
Take her to my house and enclose her in a glass case
Right away, I begin to look up everything
That could bring her back to me, they call it necromancy
When you bring the dead back to the zone of living actually
I'm not talking fantasy, this is very real to me
The loneliness that lives in me
Propels me into finishing my quest
Of giving my lover breath, again
I start speaking Latin just like a Mexican
From the ancient scriptures the medieval pictures
Depicting bodies lifting from the ground
Right then I can hear a sound
(I believe in you) I know you do boo
And I'm coming for you if it's the last thing I do, too
[Bridge: Kirby dominant}
I called your name today
To see if your still here
I know you went away
But this cannot be real
My heart now bears a hole
I squeeze your wedding ring
Place a kiss upon your face
And I say no your gonna live
[Hook]
You won't stay gone, you're gonna live
And I say no your gonna live
