How long my Queen, the pious woman in misery?
The bride of Esagila in misery?
For the brick shall the walls wail?
For the dust shall the restored dust wail?
The city and the land are afflicted with woe

As to thy word who comprehends thy form?

She wanders on the plain, on the plain she wails
The mother, Queen who gives life to the dead, on the plain she wails
The Queen, Lady of Larak, on the plain wails
The Queen, mother of the holy city, on the plain wails
The abode Erabrir, of the lord Sakutma, on the plain wails
