This is the opening track for Daveed’s “Own Your Dreams EP”, a project focused on encouraging the listener to take up arms to pursue their passion at any cost.
Daveed uses his story of feeling lost in a world driven by material success as a way to connect with the listener.
His goal is to inspire...
There once was a little boy living in the middle of England 22 years ago
He didn't really know himself, or anyone else that well
Used to get beat up a lot and had no friends at the age of 12
Who knew that 2 years later that little boy would be out of that hell
Right into another one, didn't know who he is or what he was
Raised religious, but always felt like a cluster fuck
Spent everyday thinking he was unworthy of life (that's rough)
He's only worthy to burn, I can't help it this is me (that's tough)
What's human nature is sin, so you're destined to feel like shit
Of course we're all too fucking ignorant to question it, so well that's it
I guess we're all gonna fucking burn cause the most religious are the biggest of the hypocrites
This shit is ridiculous, and you expect me to believe in this?
So I, self enlighten, find myself through my own devices
Through out my struggle I developed vices, matter of fact pass me that lighter
Rollin' up another one I'm try'na get higher, my fucking existence represent a survivor
Did this on my fucking own, I ain't have no fucking help, I am a fighter
The laughs and geers have all faded away, and now it's all hand daps
Mad respect, yo your beats phat, and them rhymes dog yo I need that
Ayo ease back, I can't believe that, now you faggots all want a piece of that
Life I'm living car I'm driving, bitch I'm licking time to re-cap
Fresh of the plane, straight up first time I ever saw a skyscraper
And didn't have a white person for a neighbour, that was beating me into the pavement
That used to call me Paki, even though I'm Honduran the fuck's that kind'a racist
Nah I was all good now, this place is the safest away from those faces
Time for me to focus on these dreams, by any means, I was 17
Skip forward a couple years I'm try'na build my team, bring in my regime
But, people couldn't stand my gleam, the way I'm shining on 'em is too pristine
So they tried to wipe my belief, off the map like the greatest Constantine
What you gonna do about it now (what you gonna do about it?)
Daveed is in the house (Daveed is in the fucking house)
I ain't goin' away you know it's going down (you know it's going down)
So get used to the sound (get used to the sound!)
Get Used to the Sound
Get Used to the Sound
Get Used to the Sound!
