Darla Come Down From Jackson

It been about 12 o'clock in the heat of the day
Adam and Eve been in the garden of Eden
Throwin' diddle and sass and things backwards and forwards
And The Lord walked in the garden, and the lord called Adam
"Adam"
"Yessir Lord?"
"Come 'ere Adam. You see that tree over there?"
"Yessir Lord I see the tree."
"Well the fruit, on that tree, must not be touched, 'cause the day you touch that fruit, that day, you shall be dead."
"Yessir Lord that's good what you have to say sir."
And The Lord take his time, and go on, and walk outta the garden
And after The Lord been gone
Adam, he gone to the tree and broke fruit off the tree
And he broke the fruit in half, and him eat half, and Eve eat half
And the next day, The Lord came back into the garden
And The Lord look at the tree, and he recognize that fruit was gone off the tree
So The Lord called Adam
"Adam! Adam hear me?"
"Yessir Lord, I comin' now sir."
"Adam fruit is eat off that tree."
"Well Lord, fruit is eat off the tree. I never eat 'em, so Eve musta eat 'em."
Now Nicodemus had been on the other side of the garden
And he came over and broke into the conversation
"Lord, whoever ate the fruit off that tree, had number nine shoes on, and you know, Eve don't wear no shoes like that. Adam is the man that put teeth in that fruit!"
And The Lord look on Adam
And Adam turned, and he run, and he jumped the barbed wire fence to the back of the kitchen
And he slept in the thicket 'til broad day clean next morning
