What was the songwriting process for this song like?
As writers we usually start by putting melodies down. So for this song we all started by singing melodies to get the mood of the song. We then structured the song and the concept was the last thing. Eyez On U seemed fit. The lyrics came easily once we picked the concept.
Was the song always intended for ASTRO's Moonbin & Sanha?
We actually wrote it as a Kang Daniel song, so we imagined he would sing it, so when we heard Moonbin and Sanha liked it we were very happy!
In your opinion, what is the coolest part of the song?
According to one of the writers Frankie Day, the whisper “Can You Keep a secret” is the coolest part of the song. I have to agree lool. It’s a part of the song we all love and are happy they kept in the song.
How did Moonbin & Sanha react when they first heard the song?
We heard they liked the song and thought it was dope! Vocally they matched the song.
How did you approach composing this song, what was the starting point?
Jacob actually started with the chorus. It was the first melody to be put down on the track. We then added and went to the verses and lastly the bridge. Depending on the mood of the song we will start with the hook and work backwards. The mood for Eyez On U was sultry and smooth so the Chorus flowed...
What are your thoughts about the final product?
The final song is great. Both of their voices carry the song so well and compliment each other. They are such good singers that is seemed easy for them. We loved it!
