The opening musical number of Carousel transports the audience to the carnival on the stage in front of them, sounding much like the music they would hear at an actual carnival. The cast scurries around onstage wandering around the fair, with Mrs. Mullin watching over at her ticket booth. Billy announces that the carousel will be opening up for rides, and scoops up Julie, placing her on a horse. Furious, Mrs. Mullin drives them both out
The Carousel Waltz was written by Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II & Rodgers & Hammerstein.
