A eulogy written by Massachusetts sculptor Tim Laursen to his chicken, which was killed by a hawk on the same day it was immortalised in the music video for Youth On A Spit.
Hello loves,
Gage is dead.
Today is Monday, March 29th, 2021. As you know, Willy's song and video featuring Gage the Chicken was released this morning.
On my way out the door I discovered a hawk, probably a red tail, had eaten Gage some time ago in the early hours and she is dead. I discovered her body on the side of the driveway in a bed of beautiful white feathers.
Yesterday, as I walked from the shop to the housе, Gage came running out of the woods, covеred in mud and bobbing side to side, chasing me for food. She looked so happy - as usual.
Now she is being seen by thousands of people in Willy's music video, which was released on the day of her death. You guys even inserted her 'cluck' into the audio. I would argue she is the most famous and beloved chicken in the world right now. So many people are looking into her thoughtful eyes and hearing her velvety cluck. She's a star now.
We love you, Gage. This isn't a joke. It's just the truth. I found her, like, twenty minutes ago. I have to go bury her now. I feel so special that she left us and became a digital chicken spirit through this. She is on the internet now and we will probably see her again and again and again and again.
I just buried her on Bok Bok Hill next to my shop. Her last words were, "Bok".
(You can't kill me, I'm already dead. You can't kill me, I'm already dead. You can't kill me, I'm already dead.)
On the Facebook video description, Mason noted:
bok bok hill is the final resting place of Gage the chicken, who featured in the video for Youth on a Spit. she was slain by a hawk the day the album was released. may her spirit soar and be honored by this tribute.
