Curtis Gordon was a rockabilly pioneer who performed mostly in the Southern United States. Although he was born in Moultrie, Georgia, he considered Mobile, Alabama to be his second hometown. Gordon wrote and recorded this song for Mercury Records in 1956 to pay tribute to Alabama’s port city.
You take an M-O-B-I-L-E
That's the place that means the world to me
If you plan a vacation
You should choose
Mobile Alabama, you'll loose your blues
The sights down there, you'll wanna see
Including the brand new Dauphin Island Beach
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
The place that means the world to me
Well, the folks down there
Are really fine
So make your plans and come on down
Tell your friends and we will meet
Down in Mobile on Dauphin Street
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
The place that means the world to me
There's Azalea Trail and a-Mardi Gras too
Just anything you want to do
And there's a place you'll wanna see
It's Bellingrath Gardens, yes siree
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
The place that means the world to me
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
Mobile, Mobile Alabama
The place that means the world to me
Mobile
Mobile, Alabama was written by Curtis Gordon.
