Shakespeare portrays Mark Antony's beliefs in three important ways: his beliefs about Caesar’s Death and his beliefs about the government and his use of rhetorical and sarcasm at Caesar funeral during his speech.
Mark Antony's character has different personal and political beliefs. “O judgment! Thou art fled to brutish beast and men have lost their reason”( Act 3-Scene 2) In this quote is saying justice now belongs to savage beast because when they killed Caesar it was done so un-justify in other words justice flew out the window and everyone has one lost there mind.
“Tried to take over Caesar’s role and governing powers after his death. Caesar’s young nephew Octavius soon challenged Antony, however, and a long power struggle for control of the growing Roman Empire resulted"(Character background). After Caesar’s death Mark Anthony decides to take over the government to bring justice back. Caesar’s son Octavius try to take over because he believes he should be king. This personal and political belief’s revels Mark Anatomy’s true character and personality.
Mark Antony’s character has motive behind it. “He was my friend, faithful, and just to me”(act 3 scene 2). Mark Antony beliefs Caesar was his friend. The motive behind his speech was speaking for Caesar. Even though Caesar was dead. “My heart is in the coffin there with Cesar’s”(Act 3, Scene 2). Mark Antony is putting himself in Caesars shoes. He is comparing himself to Caesars saying they were one. The motive behind Mark Antony was him comparing and speaking to/for Cesar. Shakespeare portrays Mark Anatomy’s Character being a round and dynamic character with different political and personal beliefs and
motives behind his Character.
