About Zed Zilla

Zed Zilla is a rapper hailing from Memphis. His musical journey began in 2003 with the release of his debut mixtape Da Franchise. Zed Zilla has collaborated extensively with Yo Gotti and artists affiliated with his CMG label, such as Snootie Wild and Blac Youngsta.

The moniker “Zed Zilla” reflects his dynamic and powerful style, reminiscent of Godzilla. Zed discovered his passion for rap at the young age of 15, initially performing as Lil Zed. Yo Gotti played a crucial role as his mentor, guiding his musical development. Zed followed up his debut mixtape with Da Franchise 2 under the Open Mouth Entertainment label in 2003 and 2004, respectively. Later, he became associated with Yo Gotti’s CMG, originally known as Cocaine Muzik Group and later rebranded as Collective Music Group. From 2011 onwards, Zed Zilla released a series of Rent’s Due mixtapes under CMG and contributed to various projects by Yo Gotti.

However, a strain in the relationship between Zed Zilla and Yo Gotti emerged when Zed collaborated with Young Dolph, who was considered Gotti’s adversary. Since 2015, Zed has primarily pursued an independent recording career. In 2017, he expressed his feelings about the situation with the poignant single “Shoulder to Lean On.” Notable subsequent releases include the 2018 club-oriented track “Shake Dat Ass,” featuring Jucee Froot and the 2019 single “Who Knows.”
