Zao is one of the most influential bands of the American Metalcore genre, with a storied (and often complicated) history stretching back to the early 1990s. ‘Though no one remains from the original incarnation, the core lineup of Dan Weyandt (vocals), Scott Mellinger (guitar), and Russ Cogdell (guitar) have appeared on almost every Zao release since 1998; Marty Lunn (bass) and Jeff Gretz (drums) have been in the band since 2005. Zao is now based in Greensburg, PA.
