Zachary Cortez McMurray is an American rapper & songwriter, born on 11/06/2001. He’s better known for his stage name, Zachary Cortez and is signed to his own record label, Living Life Grand (LLG) in Prattville, Alabama.

His first single debuted in 2018, named “They Aint Ready.” The artist has been consistently adding to his catalog since. Rapping since he was in 6th grade, Zachary had to find his own way to stand out in the rap genre.

Zachary’s father helped him come up with his stage name, Zachary Cortez, suggesting he use his middle name.

His music is versatile as they come. When asked to describe his music, the artist replied, “I’m often compared to Kendrick/Cole, but it’s really different. I rap on every type of style so I can keep my sound fresh, and not get boxed into a style.”

His creative process involves a lot of freestyle. He likes to start with the beat and get a feel for what he’s writing. Zachary gets into a flow best by letting the beat, the lighting and his environment speak to him. He tries to allow his mind to take him wherever it may go.

As weird as it may sound, Zachary thrives off of tragedy. He started rapping after the death of his Grandmother and never looked back. He doesn’t claim to be naturally gifted. His skills come from hours of working on his craft, trying to find his style, sound, and identity as an artist.

Zachary was inspired by how the language of music speaks differently than the spoken word. With a small background in therapy, Cortez feels music allows people a unique outlet to express themselves. He felt he had nobody to communicate his feelings to, so he turned to the microphone.

When asked about what his fans can expect of him, Zachary Cortez said “I plan to my foot on the gas and never look back.” He looks forward to dropping albums, content, music videos & hopefully his own LLG merch as time unfolds.
