About Ytiet

Hailing from Bình Định Province in Vietnam, Ytiet (real name Y Tiet) is a Vietnamese farmer and rapper who gained international recognition in July of 2020, especially gaining popularity among American musicians such as Chris Brown, Cardi B, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber, and Snoop Dogg.

The widespread recognition even gained him a collaboration with Whiz Khalifa with the song “Number Song”.

Before his fame, Y Tiet grew up struggling, with his mother passing away when he was six, and his father and sisters taking the family from places to places in Bình Định. His family was so poor, his father developed an addiction to alcohol, and he and his sisters were left to beg on the streets. Eventually, he was sent to live with an uncle before being sent to an orphanage. At age 14, he developed pneumonia and quit school; at the age of 18, he was adopted and became a herder to help his adoptive mother.

In 2019, YTiet created a YouTube channel to earn extra money, often documenting his life in the countryside herding cows, making traditional rustic Vietnamese foods, art, among other things.

Since his newfound fame, he has been invited to minor events in the country, and was even invited by small record companies in the U.S. for collaborations, but declined due to not knowing how to purchase plane tickets.

In 2020, Ytiet rebranded himself under the name soytiet and officially began making music under the name.
