Created as a pseudonym for singer/songwriter Caroline Smith, Your Smith allows her to have the freedom to express her feelings and experiment with style. Her debut EP Bad Habit was released in 2018 and her first album Wild Wild Woman followed in 2019.

She described how the project made her feel in an interview with Substream Magazine:

I feel really good. I feel with Your Smith, it’s a little bit of me burning down everything that I had or knew. Then after, rebuilding the way that I wanted to rebuild it with a little bit more of abandon of what I thought everybody wanted or cared about. I just wanted to focus on what’s fulfilling for me, especially as an artist as somebody has to create this shit and play it every night.
