About YONAS

YONAS was born in New York City during the Golden Era of Hip Hop. He became interested in music when he was 5 years old, and soon fell in love with rap.

YONAS' music is unique in that it blends Hip-Hop with EDM. Songs like “Night is Young” have a bass-drop in the chorus, while songs like “Set it Off” find him flowing over relentless, electronic pump-up beats. There are quieter moments too, like the introspective “I Could” and the storytelling “Be There”. His lyrics are just as electrifying as his beats, often utilizing internal rhymes and easily switching up flows to match the EDM-sampling beats, such as in “The Transition” and “One More Time”.

His first EP, The New Golden Era, came out in 2009, and since then he has released two albums, two EP’s and three mixtapes. In 2015, he started “Freemix Tuesdays,” where he would remix popular songs such as “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy and “Team” by Lorde. A new mixtape, titled The English Architect (named after a line from one of his songs) comes out in 2016.
