Yesterdays New Quintet (or Yesterday’s New Quintet) is Madlib’s Jazz side-project made up of his multiple Jazz Cats personalities.
Madlib created Yesterdays New Quintet in 2000, releasing the debut album Angles Without Edges the following year.
As the “group” progressed, a plan was developed for each of the band members to release “solo” materials and to introduce new members and groups into what would be called “Yesterdays Universe.”
