Kazumasa Oda (born 1947) was the leader of the folk rock band Off Course from 1969 to 1989 and then left to pursue a solo career. In 1991, he wrote “ラブ・ストーリーは突然に (Love Story wa Totsuzen ni)”, which was used as the theme song for the Fuji TV series Tokyo Love Story, and this became the best-selling Japanese single of all time up until then (2.58 million copies). With his 2005 album そうかな (Soukana), he became the oldest person to have a #1 album on the Japanese charts. Similarly, he was the oldest person at the time to have a #1 single with “こころ (Kokoro)” in 2007.
