Wojciech Jagielski (born 1955) – Poet, songwriter, composer. Graduate of the Faculty of Polish Philology at the University of Warsaw. He made his debut as a poet in 1976 in the weekly “Kultura”. In the same year, Wydawnictwo Literackie published a volume of his poems Discantus Supra Librum. In 1976, he also wrote the first lyrics to the song “Od lat”. In the years 1979-1982, songs with his lyrics won awards and distinctions, including:
- Żyć do pełna in 1979 and Bierz mnie in 1980 – the title of the song of the month in the radio and television plebiscite of Studio Gama,
- Bez tego i owego – an award in the competition of Program III of Polish Radio,
- a show titled Pozłacany Warkocz with his lyrics to the songs Baśka and Nie będzie mnie głowisia bolała – Grand Prix at the National Festival of Polish Song Opole ‘80,
– Za wiele widze – distinction at the National Festival of Polish Song Opole '81,
– Miłość to jest wielki skarb – 3rd prize at the National Festival of Polish Song Opole '87.
– in the television concert Premieres and Premieres, the first place was taken in 1989 by the song Zmienia się świat, and in 1991 by Rymowanka w sprawie ochrona Środowiska.
He prepared the album repertoire for Ewa Bem on the LP “I co z tego masz” and for Andrzej Zaucha on the LP “Wszystkie Stworzenia Duże i Małe”. His songs were used in the television program U cioci na imienianich. He is a scriptwriter and director of music videos, including: Tokio (with Ewa Bem) and Uczciwa bieda (with Jacek Skubikowski), and music TV programs, including My Style (with Ewa Kuklińska). Songs with his lyrics were also sung by: Felicjan Andrzejczak, Krzysztof Cugowski, Gang Marcela, Wojciech Gąssowski, Irena Jarocka, Maria Jeżowska, Krzysztof Krawczyk, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Bogusław Mec, Maryla Rodowicz and Joanna Starosta.
His career is dedicated to the entry in the television version of the Lexicon of Polish Popular Music (episode 32 directed by Ryszard Wolański). He is the composer of an instrumental piece entitled The Diary of a Mannequin, which won the first prize in the competition of Polish Radio Programme III, and music for the plays King IV by Stanisław Grochowiak (dir. Tadeusz Różewicz), The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie (dir. Marek Piestrak) and Butterflies are Free by Leonard Gershe (dir. Lesień Zbigniew).
