About William Cashion

William Cashion is better known for being the bassist of synth-pop band Future Islands, but he is also a member of Baltimore bands
The Snails and Peals.

Cashion started playing guitar when he was around 13, having had a couple of bands as a teenager. While attending the East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, he met Samuel T. Herring and both started the art performance band Art Lord & the Self-Portraits in 2003. The band broke up in late 2005 and most of its former members went on to form Future Islands in early 2006.

In 2008, he and Samuel T. Herring formed The Snails to play covers by their first band Art Lord & The Self-Portraits at Spank Rock’s birthday party. Later producing it’s own material, their activity depends on Future Islands touring breaks.

In 2012, Cashion formed an instrumental duo with former Double Dagger bassist Bruce Willen called Peals.
