WCD started on a Sunday afternoon in the garage/studio of Kevin and Jess Penner, and roommate / bass player Daniel Roberts. After working together over the course of a year on various musical projects, the trio decided on a whim to record one song – spontaneously, and under two stipulations – that the song would be written, tracked and mixed on the same day, and that it would be done with minimal takes/editing. In just under six hours, “Oh my my my oh” (the bands first single) went from idea to fully fledged finished recording. It was such a fun and refreshing experience that the trio decided to continue (under the same parameters) until a record was produced. The basic idea of the project / band is to let things develop naturally and quickly, without the time to second guess or over analyze. The record that resulted; “Lets all pretend we’re not who we are” turned out to be an energetic, dynamic, fun and witty snapshot of three people who are willing to take a risk, open and door, and let it all hang out.
