Fond of singing and dancing since she was in nursery, Wajiha Naqvi’s childhood was spent listening to a diverse range of music. It wasn’t long that she picked up the guitar and started performing at concerts in school un until her college.
With a background in cultural anthropology, Naqvi has pursued to understand music from an academic perspective. A founding member of an arts and music platform, ‘I Am Karachi’, she’s getting formally trained in Eastern Classical under Ustaad Rauf Saami – the son of Naseeruddin Saami from the Delhi Gharana.
Naqvi’s musical influences range from hip-hop/rap to Bollywood to world music and qawwali.
