Milwaukee four-piece Vinyl Theatre make ‘80s post-punk-inspired music that straddles the line between melodic rock, synth pop, and electronic dance music.
Formed in 2012 by lead singer/guitarist Keegan Calmes and keyboardist/backing vocalist Chris Senner, the group also includes drummer Nick Cesarz and at one time, bassist/backing vocalist Josh Pothier. Drawing favorable comparisons to such similarly inclined acts as The Killers, Two Door Cinema Club, and Death Cab for Cutie, the group reached the top spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart in March of 2014.
That same year, Vinyl Theatre released their debut full-length album, Electrogram, through their label Fueled by Ramen. Pothier parted ways with the band before the release of their second LP, 2017’s Origami, which featured guitars in a more prominent role.
