Born in Miami to Cuban and Ecuadorian parents, Vikina (Victoria Cristina López) was drawn to music at an early age. In late 2019, she sang & danced her way into the spotlight as the undisputed “show woman” on Univision’s hot new singing competition Reina De La Cancion executive produced by Daddy Yankee. As a finalist, she inspired many with her story of fierce determination & is fondly known as “Miss 305”. Her fanbase nearly tripled on social platforms & she gained a strong understanding of her super-power on stage, something she hopes to highlight in upcoming shows & releases.
Under the name, Vikina, she shared her talent at a variety of venues across South Florida, including Sábado Gigante, the Latin Grammy Street Parties, & Calle 8. Upon changing her artistic name, the doors really began to open for “Vikina”. She flared onto the music scene with the release of her single, “Loca de Amor” in 2015. The single, produced by Pedro “SP” Polanco, combined the distinct rhythm of bachata with trap sounds & has organically received over 600,000 universal plays on Spotify.
She was later recognized as the winner of iHeart Radio’s “Tu Estrella” competition in 2017 which granted Vikina the opportunity to kick off the official iHeart Radio Fiesta Latina, where she shared the stage with Farruko, Zion y Lennox, & Shaggy.
Vikina hopes to help fill the void that she sees in the industry, specifically, for young Latin women. Her current project fearlessly interweaves reggeaton, trap, pop, & dance music in a Spanglish fusion as unique as the artist herself. “As a modern & bilingual Latina, I don’t hear enough music out there that I can identify with,” she says. “I want to be shamelessly Spanglish, writing songs that girls like me can scream at the top of their lungs & feel empowered by.” Vikina is confident in what she brings to the table and hopes to join the likes of other powerful Latinas such as Becky G, Karol G, & Natti Natasha.
And just recently, Vikina landed a guest spot on Pitbull’s upcoming album Trackhouse, appearing on the tracks, “Takes 3” and “Let’s Take A Shot”. The track was performed by Vikina and Pitbull at the 2023 Latin AMAs and is set to be released with the rest of the album on September 15.
