Ty Tabor has been the guitarist and secondary vocalist for the progressive rock group King’s X since its inception in the early 1980s. His role in the band has led him to be called “an unsung hero” of “guitar magic”, and his “sonic innovations have become permanent parts of the heavy guitar lexicon.” The group has been recognized for their unique fusion of heavy rock with Beatles-esque harmonies, and Tabor specifically is known for his “iconic guitar tone.”
After fifteen years of work with King’s X, he expanded his repertoire by releasing a solo album in 1997. Several have followed since. Tabor also has participated in a number of collaborative side projects like Jughead, Platypus, Sneak Preview, Jelly Jam, Jibbs and Xenuphobe. Additionally, he has worked with artists like Carmine Appice, Greg Bissonette and Geoff Tate (formerly of Queensrÿche).
Guitar Player Magazine praised Tabor in 2016 for his four-decades-long career for having “fearlessly blended Hendrix-infused cosmic blues, folky arpeggios, far-Eastern melodicism, and unrelenting dropped-D riffage.”
