Garage band founded in South Los Angeles where all members were born and raised.
The band started in 2012 as a collective consisting of 4 high school friends Edgar, Matt, Keller, and Edward. Starting out as a cover band that opened for local artists such as the Red Pears and Michael Seyer, Tuesday eventually culminated into a walking signature of the style blasting out of south LA’s garages. Making the most out of their environment and small community Tuesday reflects the power in doing the most with the least, recognizing potential in the dimly lit neighborhoods they’ve known their whole lives. From random backyard gigs and sunset boulevard jam sessions to their High School Senior Awards assembly, Tuesday did nothing but share the spirit of always pushing forward and upward.
The name Tuesday is a conceptualization of a day where anything can happen which consistently seemed to be Tuesday in the lives of the members. The bands school day ended at 1:30pm on Tuesdays instead of the regular 2:40pm so the group quickly proclaimed that day of the week as practice day, eventually embracing it as the band name. Although before the name was even proposed, both guitarists Matt and Edgar remember catching a show at The Smell, an iconic downtown venue where the two bumped into Wyatt Shears of The Garden. Promptly showing Wyatt Shears a list of band names on Matt’s phone, Matt kindly asked him to choose his favorite. Tuesday was born.
The group went their separate ways in 2019 to pursue their own academic endeavors. However, the group still writes music under the moniker Tuesday. Each member writes and records on their own and individually uploads to Tuesday.
