About ToxiPlays

ToxiPlays (b. February 11), also known as the Arcade Cabinet collective or more simply as Toxi, is a Christian singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer (occasionally under the GoVyral moniker) hailing from California. Toxi is the founder of the indie record label and musician union Toxadil, working alongside fellow singer-songwriter juwunky.

Toxi mostly specializes in trap rap/hip-hop music with influences from electronic music, typically spreading the Christian Gospel—such as in her breakout “REMOVE THE EGO”—or providing commentary on her experience with dissociative identity disorder in her lyrics. Musicians Quadeca and quinn, rappers Nicki Minaj and Baby Keem, as well as gospel artist Brent Jones are listed as influences on her BandLab account amongst other artists.

Her first recorded musical experiences were making Team Fortress 2 parodies of hip-hop music that were popular at the time—parodies that would make up the compilation tape, TF2 Spotlight, which would be worked on until the final months of 2019.

Two years later, on May 21, 2021, ToxiPlays would drop Rewind & Remix exclusively on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and BandLab, serving as her first debut album (amidst plans for the long-awaited Starstruck filling that role). The album consists of eight remixes of mostly old-school hip-hop tracks with familiar collaborators YUNG CEES and ͏aurainairy, as well as being the first musical appearance of juwunky (on “Casanova”) and CofStars (on “Never Leave Her”).

In June of that same year, Toxi first publicly acknowledged her plurality with a straight-to-the-point post on X, simply reading:

i am a system [footnote: “System” is a term sometimes used to describe someone with dissociative identity disorder.]

Toxi then took to X on the first of October to promote her album Level Select, which had dropped a minute earlier. Level Select was Toxi’s sophomore project, but doubled as Toxi’s debut album onto streaming services (although it wouldn’t be available to stream for ten days after the fact). Level Select was also the first project credited to the Arcade Cabinet collective, save for “Pingin' Home”, which was credited to Kero of the Arcade Cabinet.
