With Bombay Bicycle Club announcing an indefinite hiatus on 29 January 2016, the members of the group parted ways with the intention of recording solo material. Almost a year later on 27 January 2017, the band’s bassist, Ed Nash, released his solo debut album The Pace of Passing under the name Toothless, alongside former bandmate Suren de Saram on drums.
