Professional skateboarder turned musician, Tommy Guerrero has a career going back as far as the early 80s. Best known for his genre evasive musical sound, Guerrero crafts a hip-hop inspired blend of both jazz and rock.
Raised in California, Guerrero started gaining traction in the then booming skateboarding scene, being signed to Powell Peralta in his mid teens. His music career would begin here too, taking part in skate rock band Free Beer and later, Jet Black Crayon.
Still better known for his skateboarding efforts, Guerrero moved on to composing solo work through the mid 90s, a passion culminating in a 2003 release of his best known record, Soul Food Taqueria.
Despite achieving only small commercial success, Guerrero’s work has been well recieved by critics across the board, as well as being featured in the soundtracks of video games, such as Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, and the Skate series.
