TJ Porter, real name Terrence Reaves, is an American rapper born and raised in Harlem, New York. The name TJ Porter is a nod to Rich Porter, an American drug dealer from Harlem and a main character in the film Paid In Full. Porter released his first mixtape More To Life in 2016.

Once TJ began releasing music, he was discovered by veteran manger Wayne Clark, better known as Wayno from the hit YouTube show “Everyday Struggle” with DJ Akademiks and Nadeska. After releasing his track “Tricky,” he received more attention from companies and record labels. In the Summer of 2018, TJ signed a partnership with Nike and a deal with Def Jam Records.

TJ Porter gained increasing attention after the release of his 2019 album Voice of the Trenches, an autobiographical album following Porter’s life.
