Timothy Walter Burton or Tim Burton is an american film director, writer, poet, artist, producer and animator born in Burbank, California on the 25th of August 1958. He majored in animation at the California Institute of Arts, graduated in 1980 and worked at Disney almost for a year before leaving and pursuing his own style and career.
He is known for having a very unique mixture of Gothic, horror and fantasy style in all his creations. He started getting recognition when his short-film Vincent won two awards at Chicago and the Critics' Prize at the Annecy Film Festival (France). From then on, his movies have won Oscars for animation (Corpse Bride) and Golden Globe nominations (Big Fish)
