Born into the era of Hip Hop Music’s peak in the 80’s, Virginia emcee, Tiff The Gift, has been writing rhymes since she was about thirteen years old. Some of her first recordings date back to her 8th grade year of middle school and even then, there was talent to be recognized. Tiff spent her freshman year of High School in Newport News, VA freestyling in hallways and banging on lockers, like most kids in the late 90’s who had taken an interest in the culture of Hip Hop. At the time, her name was simply, Tiff, and it was no secret that she could rock with the best of them. After moving to Georgia in her sophomore year of high school, she continued to build her career as a Hip Hop artist, with a group called Unorthodox Methods, performing at local clubs in Savannah, GA and being well received by onlookers. It was then that she realized that she needed to take her career more seriously, continuing to record and build a catalogue throughout high school and well into her college years, where she majored in and completed her degree from Old Dominion University in Biological Sciences, with minors in Chemistry and Environmental Health Sciences. Tiff linked up with the Soul Students in 2004 through a mutual friend, Kaveen Scott, made music, traveled, made history, and found family. She was featured on the ‘Class is in Session’ LP (2005) which was a collection of music from each member of the Soul Students crew, hosted and mixed by one of the best to do it, DJ Bee (aka Beesus the Turntablist). Tiff’s next introduction was through her features on AWON’s ‘Beautiful Loser’ LP (2008), where she blessed the track, Real Emcee. As listeners patiently waited for a solo release, ‘Cool, Calm, Chill’ (produced by Kameleon Beats) was released in 2010, distributed by Digi Crates Records. Showing up on iTunes’ New and Noteworthy page, blogs and avid Hip Hop listeners began to take notice. The recognition from the solo quest led to Tiff to working with other producers, such as Thomas Prime, E.O.M, and Seasons’ End. With production by Kameleon Beats, Tiff The Gift is set to release her second LP, ‘Better to Give’ on St. Valentines Day (February 14), 2013. This body of work is a solo venture with few vocal features and lots of personality. According to pre-release listeners, the album is five mic material and followers have been waiting for this for a few years, ready to breathe in some more of that fresh air that Tiff The Gift is known for providing…
