About Thurl Ravenscroft

Thurl Ravenscroft (1914-2005) was a singer and voice actor known for his distinct basso profundo voice. He was the bass singer for the popular quartet The Mellomen, accompanying popular singers such as Dean Martin and Doris Day and providing backup vocals for numerous Disney films and projects (Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp). But probably his three most beloved voiceover roles are as Frosted Flakes mascot Tony the Tiger, a role he voiced from 1953 to his death in 2005, the uncredited singer of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and (in a rare onscreen performance) Uncle Theodore the broken singing bust in The Haunted Mansion
