From off-the-wall popular culture references to basketball references, the New York-based rapper and producer known as Theravada (AKA Xenophon Yialias) has gained a cult following for his incredibly unique artistry.
Alongside his cousin and fellow artist, Rob Chambers (stylized rbchmbrs), Theravada (stylized Thrvd), is the co-founder of 2000 Ent., an indie hip-hop label based in New York. Responsible for the majority of Xen and Rob’s releases, the label continues to push the boundaries of the genre, and has become a recognizable force over the last decade or so.
Having produced for the likes of Earl Sweatshirt, Armand Hammer, Navy Blue, AKAI SOLO, YUNGMORPHEUS, and many other notable names, Theravada remains a name to watch in the following years as the indie hip-hop scene continues to grow in popularity and visibility.
