About The Wreckers

The Wreckers were an American country duo formed in 2005 and disbanded in 2008. Comprised of country acts Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp, both of whom have solo music, The Wreckers only released one album together, “Stand Still, Look Pretty.”

Branch and Harp were longtime friends, and when Branch suggested they work together, The Wreckers were born. The name was modified from a suggestion from Branch’s then husband Teddy Landau, “The Cass County Homewreckers.” The group signed to Maverick Records in 2005.

In 2006 they released their only album “Stand Still, Look Pretty”, which reached #4 on the US Country Albums chart and #14 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The lead single “Leave the Pieces” was by far their most successful song, reaching #1 on the Hot Country Charts and #34 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their other singles, “My, Oh My” and “Tennessee”, did not perform as well. Their song “The Good Kind” was featured on the teen drama show “One Tree Hill”.

The group was nominated for 3 CMAs and 1 Grammy, “Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group Vocal” for “Leave the Pieces”.

After Maverick shelved their second album, the two disbanded in February 2008 to work on solo projects. Tensions were high at this point; Branch said of the unhappiness together : “It was really emotional. We went to mediation toward the end, and the mediator was like, ‘You two can’t work together.’ I don’t know how it got to that point.”

The two reunited in August 2017 at the Nashville stop of Branch’s solo tour, performing “Leave the Pieces” and “Tennessee” together, receiving a strong crowd response.
