About The Wombats

The Wombats is an indie rock band hailing from Liverpool, England. Formed by three Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts students (Matthew “Murph” Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen and Daniel Haggis), the band broke into the mainstream after the success of their single, “Let’s Dance to Joy Division”, off their 2007 debut album, The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation. The album enjoyed critical success and achieved the UK Platinum certification.

Their sophomore album, The Wombats Proudly Present: This Modern Glitch was released in 2011 to favourable reviews and moderate success—it was certified UK Gold. 2015 saw their third album, Glitterbug debut at #5 on the UK charts and marked the band’s first Billboard 200 charting. In 2018, their fourth album,
Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, reached a respectable 3rd in the UK Album Charts.
