About The Rocking Vickers

The Rocking Vickers (also styled as Rockin' Vickers) were an English rock and roll band originating from Blackpool. At the start of their carreer, they were also known as “Rev Black and The Rockin' Vicars” or “Rockin' Vicars”, but in order to get more attention, they sticked with “Rockin' Vickers”.

The band started out as a regular beat band in 1963, but they soon caught attention with their intense live shows and their unusual costumes which combined vicar collars and traditional Sami clothes and boots.

In their hayday, the band toured Europe and in Yugoslavia in 1965 they were one of the first British rock bands to perform in a socialist country.

Lemmy Kilmister of future Motörhead played guitar in the band between 1965 and 1967, up until the band’s split up.
