About The Professionals

The Professionals is the collaborative name of Oxnard natives, acclaimed underground hip-hop artists/producers and brothers, Otis Jackson Jr. (Madlib) and Michael Woodrow Jackson (Oh No). Oh No provides the lyrical content whereas Madlib provides the production.

According to Stones Throw, the group’s debut was in Madlib’s Madlib Medicine Show, No. 11: Low Budget High-Fi Music which released in 2011, however, the group appeared earlier than that on the track “I Want It Back” off of Madlib’s WLIB AM: King of the Wigflip album which released in 2008.

Compared to the duo’s other collaborative groups, Madlib’s Jaylib and Madvillain, and Oh No’s Gangrene, The Professionals have yet to release an album.

The brothers rarely, if ever, use their collaborative name despite there being numerous tracks which they’ve worked on together. As of today, there are only four tracks the brothers have performed as The Professionals.

On May 25, 2015, Oh No teased about a The Professionals album in the works.

Three years later, Oh No would continue to tease about the album.
