From Potomac, Maryland, The Obsessed is a Doom metal band formed in the late 1970s by Scott Weinrich, aka “Wino”, guitar) and Mark Laue (bass) along with drummer Dave Flood (aka "Dave The Slave”) and guitarist/vocalist Johnny Reese. Warhorse was their original moniker when they were created in 1976, but by 1980 they had changed it to The Obsessed. The band had taken a sabbatical before putting out a number of albums before disbanding in 1995. 2012 saw the group reunited, originally to perform at the Roadburn Festival. In May 2013, the group performed at Maryland Deathfest XI once more. In 2016, Scott “Wino” Weinrich updated his Facebook status to announce that the present lineup of Spirit Caravan would be replaced by The Obsessed.
