About The Middle East

Based in Townsville, Queensland, Australia, this indie folk and post-rock outfit formed in 2005. The next year, they released a split EP with Sleeping in Trains. In 2008, they released their official debut album, Recordings of the Middle East, before breaking up in relative obscurity. The group reformed in 2009, re-released their album in an EP format, and launched their breakthrough single, “Blood”, which was featured in several feature films in the following years. The band released their major label debut in 2011, “I Want That You Are Always Happy” to critical success. Shortly after this, they played their final festival at the 2011 Splendour in the Grass, where they announced their permanent break up.
