About The Mello-Kings

Known for their iconic hit “Tonite, Tonite” this group is quickly written off as a one-hit-wonder despite their various doo-wop hits. The Mello-Kings originated as a quintet (brothers Jerry and Bob Scholl, Eddie Quinn, Neil Arena and Larry Esposito) named the Mellotones. They formed in 1956 at a high school in Mount Vernon, New York, USA, under the guidance of manager Dick Levister. The group was signed to the Herald label, and changed their name to the Mello-Kings after the release of “Tonite, Tonite.”
