The Mavericks are a country music group currently consisting of members Raul Malo, who is the lead singer; drummer Paul Deakin; vocalist and guitarist Eddie Perez; and on keyboards in Jerry Dale McFadden. The band has won several awards. Academy of Country Music Awards in 1994 for Top New Vocal Group and also for Top Vocal Group; and in 1995 for Top Vocal Group. The Country Music Association Awards in 1995 for Vocal Group of the Year and again in 1996 for the same honor. Grammy Awards in 1995 for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Americana Honors and Awards in 2015 for Best Duo or Group of the Year.
Raul Francisco Martinez-Malo, Jr. was born August 7, 1965 in Miami, Florida to Cuban parents. He is married to wife Betty and has three children. Raul Malo III, also known as Dino in honor of Dean Martin was born on November 14, 1995; Victor Antonio was born on November 14, 1996 and Max was born on March 6, 2000. Raul is a gifted singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer.
Paul Wylie Deakin was born September 2, 1959 in Miami Florida to Chuck and Becky Keener Deakin. He now resides in Nashville with Canadian wife Tracy Bidochka, whom he married on March 27, 1998. He is the father of Harrison Deakin, born November 2, 1990; Vaughn Bidochka-Deakin and Luka Bidochka-Deakin, born March 17, 2008. Paul has a brother, Mark and two sisters, Martha & Ruthanne. On April 12, 2000, he had open heart surgery to fix a faulty valve caused by a birth defect.
Edward Anthony Perez was born June 26, 1968 in Los Angeles, California. The guitarist and vocalist has a son born circa 2008. He has been with The Mavericks since 2003.
Jerry Dale McFadden was born October 27, 1964 in Cooper, Texas and grew up in Moore, Oklahoma. He lives in Jacksonville, Florida with wife Eva McFadden whom he married on January 7, 2012. She is from Germany. He has two daughters.
