About The Koreatown Oddity

Dominique Purdy (born 1984), better known as The Koreatown Oddity, is an American rapper and producer from Los Angeles, CA. He is also a actor, screenwriter, former-stand up comedian and self-described “overall visionary.”

His stage name is inspired by Koreatown, Los Angeles, the neighborhood where he grew up in the 80s. Purdy was introduced to hip-hop by his mother, who made jewelry for rappers and was down with Grandmaster Caz, Ice-T, and Cold Crush Brothers, being herself part of the Universal Zulu Nation.

The K-town Oddity began releasing music in 2010, strictly on cassette. It was later that he began rereleasing his cassette projects online (and in other formats). He has done duo projects with Ras G (as 5 Chuckles) and MNDSGN (as Vivians).

After signing to Stones Throw, he released his debut solo album Finna Be Past Tense on vinyl, produced almost entirely by Vex Ruffin.
